Anxiety and Christ

Anxiety and Christ The word "anxiety" has been thrown around these days a lot more than it has in the past several decades.  According to the American Psychological Association anxiety is defined as:  an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure (APA.org, 2022) Some Verses about anxiety in the Bible:  [Psa 38:18 NASB95] 18 For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because of my sin. [Pro 12:25 NASB95] 25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad. Anxiety can eat away at a person and put unhealthy attention on problems both big and small. Although I have never been diagnosed with with any sort of anxiety disorder, I have always struggled with intense worry, tension, and other thoughts. I have struggled with it ever since 5th or 6th grade when I placed, on my self,  pressure to be a perfect student. Although I was a Christian, going to church and participati...

Living in the moment

Living in the moment Even when it seems impossible One of the things a Christian ought to do is to embrace the future promises guaranteed to all those who are convinced of that Jesus is the savior of the world and that he vanquished all sin.  [2Pe 1:3 NASB20] 3 for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. The promises being that He is coming back again to establish his Kingdom. Believers are also immediately adopted as sons and daughters into His Family the instant they believe. We can rest assured that we will never lose our eternal state or fall from HIS true righteousness. It is so important to live in expectation of the things to come.  However,  it is even more important to continually be reminding ourselves of spiritual truth and focus on the goodness of God, even if our circumstances seem helpless or inescapable.  Not only did Jesus liv...

What's a word study?

What's a word study? Why should I do one? Words, Language, and Scripture. All things that are related in way or another: In terms of the Bible and its doctrines, it is an obvious statement to say that the Bible is composed of words. But what is so oft over looked is the reality that the Bible needs to be studied in its original languages.  For those unfamiliar, the Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek.  The Hebrew portion of the Bible consists what is commonly referred to as the "Old Testament" or Genesis-Malachi.  The Greek portion of the Bible contains what is commonly referred to as the "New Testament" or Matthew-Revelation.  Each portion of the Bible was written by authors of the respected time period under the exact inspiration of the Holy Spirit which means that Bible is God-breathed, and are God's words to mankind. It is. remarkable thing to think about: That the God of the universe, even in our wretched state, extends his grace so mighti...

Intro and Purpose

Intro: Importance of a Scripture Filled Life Filling the inner mind with the Word of God      I have come to a crisis in my life, that is a critical point of decision making. To be honest, this choice rests with so many of us. This choice being, to choose good and to change or to choose evil and stay the same. Now choosing evil may seem like a leap for many, but it is so easy to fall into the traps of this world and be consumed by them. The only way to not fall into the spiral that is this world, is to encapsulate the heart or kardia, the inner-mind (more on this later) with Biblical Doctrine that is found in Scripture.  The first step in being filled with doctrine is to simply read it. However, it is important that you find a doctrinally sound church that is lead by a doctrinally sound pastor. (I have been a part of a Free-Grace, Exegetical Church for many years).  My personal belief and persuasion is that I am a biblicist. That is, I let the Bible speak ...
